Valderice
A town located on the slopes of Erice, it is a very peaceful and pleasant place.
An ideal location for observing the view is Marotta, which together with Caposcale, Santa Barnaba and Ragosia, a coveted destination for vacationing, makes up the upper part of the area.
The town’s main street, Vespers Street, houses the town hall and the Mother Church “Christ the King,” which faces the square of the same name, a gathering place for many young people. Social life is somewhat absent.
But very renowned are the seaside resorts such as Lido Valderice: tiny example of a gulf with clear waters and enticing seabed. Moving to the right or left side of the gulf, you will also find a rocky shoreline with the possibility of lying in the sun, on wooden platforms, specially placed in the summer months. A campsite can be found in the center of Lido.
If you are in the area, don’t miss the Valdericino Carnival.
Also part of Valderice‘s territory is the ancient seaside village of Bonagia, now known as a seaside resort and for its marina. Until very few years ago, the very old Tonnara di Bonagia was still active: a large facility for fishing and processing bluefin tuna caught in the Mediterranean.
