It is also the most mountainous. \n\nThe history of the island is made, like that of the entire area, of <strong>dominations of different peoples<\/strong> who alternated with one another. Formerly called <strong>Hiera<\/strong>, today it takes <u>its<\/u> name from the <u>two elements that make it up<\/u>: the <strong>sea<\/strong> and <strong>thyme<\/strong>, a metaphor for the mountains. \n\nDon&#8217;t miss <u>a tour of the island and a visit to the <\/u><strong><u>caves<\/u> <\/strong>that open up on its walls that drop sheer to the sea.\nAt the top of <strong>Punta Troia<\/strong>, the<strong> Castle<\/strong> that the Arabs used as a watchtower and was later turned into a prison is clearly visible.
