The territory of the Province of Trapani<\/strong> boasts a great variety of natural landscapes: heavenly islands and coastlines, lagoons, forests, mountains, caves, lakes and sand dunes<\/u>.
The possibilities are so many! Do you want some tranquility in front of a crystal clear sea ? Do you likebirdwatching<\/strong>? trekking<\/strong>? Do you prefer going into the paths of the reserves, among the green vegetation and the blue sky, or walking among expanses left completely to themselves where the vegetation typical of a clearly Mediterranean landscape dominates ? You only have to choose where to go: within a short distance of each other you will find the 11 reserves<\/strong> of our province, each with a different landscape. <\/p>\n

If we take the capital as a point of reference, we first encounter the Salt Pans of Trapani<\/strong> and Paceco where, among mills and still pools of water, an ancient art has unknowingly given birth to a dreamlike atmosphere.
Following the coastline southward, we reach Marsala<\/strong> where, like little jewels, the Stagnone Islands<\/strong> are set in a beautiful lagoon landscape. Before arriving in Mazara<\/strong>, there is the protected area of Capo Feto<\/strong> and, beyond the city, the Riserva Naturale Integrale del Lago Preola e Gorghi Tondi<\/strong>, the small basins of karst origin surrounded by the submerged and riparian vegetation that grows spontaneously around them. Still farther on, near Selinunte, against the backdrop of a desert environment, marsh vegetation enriches the Mouth of the Belice River<\/strong> and the adjoining Dunes. <\/p>\n

Inland, a little further north, between Santa Ninfa<\/strong> and Gibellina<\/strong>, the Grotta di Santa Ninfa Integral Nature Reserve<\/strong> covers an interesting area that is worth exploring both on the surface, for the dense vegetation of the flat expanses and the rocky plateau, and in depth where the large halls of the underground caves open up.<\/p>\n

Heading north from Trapani <\/strong>, the Custonaci <\/strong>area has the honor of hosting the Mount Cofano Oriented Nature Reserve<\/strong>, where you will be surrounded by caves, rock walls and breathtaking views of the gulf below.
A little further on, between San Vito<\/strong> and Castellammare<\/strong>, is the Zingaro Oriented Nature Reserve<\/strong>, probably the most famous of all, where you can stroll the trails or stop in one of the many coves for a dip in the sea.
Also in the same direction, in the territory of Alcamo<\/strong>, we encounter the Bosco d’Alcamo Oriented Nature Reserve<\/strong> where you can walk among the lush vegetation and the ruins that have survived as a reminder of eras long gone.
And finally, leaving the coast, the Egadi Islands Marine Reserve<\/strong>, with Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, and the Oriented Nature Reserve of the Island of Pantelleria<\/strong>, a bridge between Italy and Africa whose beauty could hardly be summarized in a few lines, await you.<\/p>\n

The Oriented Nature Reserve Saline di Trapani e Paceco<\/strong> extends in the territory between the cities of Trapani<\/strong> and Paceco<\/strong>, precisely from the southern area of the capital to the hamlet of Salina Grande.<\/strong> Here, centuries-old structures created for salt processing have harmoniously integrated with the natural landscape, creating a unique and deeply evocative environment. <\/p>\n

It is one of the few examples where human productive activities have not only not damaged the original environment, but have enriched it with a special touch. The beauty of the reserve is most strikingly manifested at sunset: when the sun goes down, each pool reflects different hues, from deep pink to red and golden. In those few moments before the light fades, one witnesses a magical spectacle, with colors and shades that seem to chase each other. <\/p>\n

Established in 1995<\/strong>, the reserve was created with the aim of protecting one of the last remaining wetlands in western Sicily.<\/strong> Today its 986 hectares<\/strong>, divided between reserve and pre-reserve, are entrusted to the care of WWF Italy.<\/strong> <\/p>\n
