The city - Mazara del Vallo
Situated in the south of our province, the town of Mazara del Vallo dues its luck to its geographical position, so near Africa, and Mazaro river, its mouth creating a natural and well protected canal harbour, always used for trades.
Exactly the canal harbour really is the lynch-pin of town life, its economy being essentially based on the presence of a numerous fleet of fishing-boat and a considerable fishing production. All that, besides making the town become one of the most representative Italian centre for deep-sea fishing, makes it also a multiethnic pole where different people and cultures were able to find the way, unfortunately not always taken for granted, of the peaceful cohabitation.
To the west of Mazara, you may find the protected area of Cape Feto and, to the east of the town, the Complete Natural Reserve of Lake Preola and Gorghi Tondi.
