Alcamo

On a plateau, on the slopes of Mount Bonifato, in the center of the Gulf of Castellammare, lies Alcamo, the home of an excellent wine: a doc white wine called precisely Bianco d’Alcamo. And it is also, probably, the home of the famous Cielo d’Alcamo, a poet of whom nothing is known for certain, not even his name, except that he wrote the contrast in 32 stanzas Rosa Fresca Aulentissima, one of the first compositions through which Italian established itself as a language for poets. Alcamo ‘s geographical location has made it the center of a dense network of trade since centuries past. Even today the city is characterized as an active agricultural center and industrial hub. The lush forest on top of Mount Bonifato, inhabited since ancient times, is now a Oriented Nature Reserve.
