The procession takes place on June 19 20 21.

Tradition has it that, in the mid-1500s, some women washing clothes by a stream were repeatedly hit by a volley of stones. They were amazed that they felt no pain in the struck parts but, on the contrary, benefit.
When the men went to look for the perpetrator of such a prank, they found nothing but an icon of the Virgin hidden in the rubble of a small chapel. Several miracles followed in the following days.

Since then, Our Lady of Miracles has been venerated in Alcamo. She is celebrated each year with fireworks and various events. During the procession, the Madonna is carried on the shoulders through the city streets.
