The July Musical Trapanese

Those who love opera music will be happy to know that theEnte Luglio Musicale Trapanese organizes many activities and events of great artistic significance throughout the year.

It is the Villa Margherita that houses the prestigious “Theatre of Tradition,” recognized as such on November 23, 2003 by a Decree of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.

Born to “replace” the Garibaldi Theater, destroyed by bombing in World War II, it gradually managed to consolidate and become a very important artistic and cultural center. Becoming an Entity in 1958 and acquiring legal personality in ’92, the “July” was able to join the ranks of International Institutions operating in the field of Lyric Theaters.

One of the most well-established events in the city of Trapani, of great attraction, thanks also to the high level of performances, it is the reference point for those who love music. The opera activity initially took place only in the summer period, later it also covered the winter months.

Special recognition goes to Maestro Giuseppe Di Stefano proponent of the “International Competition – Youth and Opera.” Numerous competitors from different parts of the world participate in this initiative; the purpose is to include them in the activities of National Theaters. A “Professional Musical Initiation and Improvement Course for Opera Singers” is also organized for the on-site training of specialized personnel.

AnOpera-Symphony Orchestra of “July” curated by Filippo Zigante was also born. The musical seasons are so successful both because of the presence of foreign artists and personalities who come to the theater, and because of the presence in the area of assets of inestimable beauty such as Temple of Selinunte, Theater of Segesta, Erice.
