Mysteries of Erice

In many ways the Procession resembles the one that takes place on the same day, namely Good Friday, in Trapani, but is smaller in size.

Up and down the narrow streets of the city parade the six statue groups depicting the Passion and Resurrection of Christ. Accompanying them is the marching band that expresses in notes the torment of Christ.

The statuary groups, dating back to the 1600s, are carried on the shoulders of the representatives of the workers, those who once represented the various social categories of the city.

The procession leaves, in the early afternoon, from the Church of St. Julian and returns there after traveling through the main streets of Erice.
