The town - Valderice
Town placed on Erice slopes, it is a very quiet and delightful place.
An ideal position to watch the panorama is Marotta, that together with Caposcale, Santa Barnaba e Ragosia, desired destination for the holydays, constitutes the high area of the land. The main road of the town, via Vespri, lodges the town-hall and the Mother Church “Cristo Re” (Christ King), that is situated in front of the homonymous square, meeting place of a lot of young people. It is a little lacking of society life.
Where as very famous are the seaside resorts as Lido Valderice: very small example of a gulf with untroubled waters and enchanting depths. Moving to the right or to the left of the gulf, besides you will find a rocks shore with the possibility to lie down in the sun, on wooden rugs, specially arranged in summer months. In the town-centre of Lido it is possible to find an holyday-camp, and at about 1 km, the tourist village “Torre Xiare”, provided with amphitheatre, tennis courts and many other things.
If you are in the area do not miss the Valderice Carnival.
In the territory of Valderice it is also included the old fishermen village of Bonagia, now famous as a bathing resort and for its tourist little port. Until very few years ago it has been still working the very old Tonnara di Bonagia (Bonagia Tunny-fishing): a big structure for the fishing and the processing of the red tuna kept in the Mediterranean sea.
