Satyr Cup - Mazara del Vallo
Sails dance too A few years ago in the sea of Mazara started the celebration of the Satyr Cup, the event in honor of the dancing Satyr, the life size bronze statue whose discovery in the Channel of Sicily goes back to about ten years ago. It is an annual sailing competition for deep-sea boat (25 to 50 feet) which takes place in September in the gulf of Mazara. Teams from all over Italy participate to the competition. The first edition took place in 2005 and now it is already famous at the national level. Every year, during the racing days, many fans and curious crowd the promenade to see the competitions and participate at the same time to the other events organized.
